ABOUT ME
"As a visual storyteller, I delve into the rich narratives and complex emotions found in forgotten spaces and objects. By examining remnants of history and the echoes of time, I aim to uncover the stories that linger in places often overlooked. In my work, I digitally combine images I have discovered and photographed throughout Central Kentucky, where I live. Through these photographs, I strive to create a visual record of what may someday be lost forever."
Larson received a BA degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis on painting from the University of South Florida, along with a BA degree in Mass Communications focused on photojournalism. After graduating, she worked as a photographer for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and as a medical photographer at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. In the end, she dedicated herself to being a full-time artist, focusing on large, one-of-a-kind, hand-painted black-and-white pinhole photographs.
She has received significant recognition for her work, including Florida Individual Artist Fellowships in 1998, 2002, and 2008, as well as an Artist Enhancement Grant from the State of Florida in 2006. In 2005, she served as the City of Tampa's Photographer Laureate, documenting the city through the unique lens of a pinhole camera.
Larson has exhibited widely at noted institutions such as the Fundación Barrié in La Coruña, Spain, the Photographic Gallery, San Miquel de Allende, Mexico, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrna Beach, Candela Books + Gallery, Richmond VA, Polk Museum of Art, Lakeland, FL, Tampa Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts St.Petersburg, Florida, the Center of Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado, the Center for Photographic Art, Carmel, CA, and the CoExist Galleries & Studios, Southend on Sea, Essex UK.
